From where to start to understand politics?

I'm an engineering student and wants to pursue IAS. Believe me I don't know the abc of government and politics, constitution. Actually I read the news paper I'm not able to understand the misty.Can any one please suggest any book or web which is in simple and easy other than D.D. Basu.
