Could this be true about man utd?

apparently there is a rumour that at least 3 other united players (not rooney or giggs) were leant on to deliberately under perform and lose the CL final because they had dirt on their private lives that they were going to expose if they didn't deliberately lose the final. Apparently betting cartels had millions riding on it. Could that be true?
